Default p72 and lexar memory

hi can i use a lexar 256mb memory stick pro with magicgate
in my sony p 72.
sorry if this sounds dumb.
but i emailed sony and they said it was not compatable they said that only sony memory sticks are compatable.
also would memory stick pro give me any benefits in my camera

That's crazy. The Sony, Lexar, and SanDisk memory sticks should all be the same thing. I sure hope they are! I just ordered a SanDisk 512 Memory Stick Pro for my F717.

The benefits of MS Pro are that it's faster for writing pictures to the memory in camera and faster for copying pictures to the computer. And, of course, it offers larger sizes than regular memory sticks.
