More I play around, and yet to read a manual LOL, just me. WIll read the Online manual. I am learning the cam real slow.

Turning On/off is not bad, and Spinwheel. leaving on the "GREEN" one is the best.

I am figuringout each Spinwheel one, when you select that particular Icon, When hitting menu the First top line will be for that Icon. Example person/background. the top line is for defusion or blur - low, med, high and all others are repeated functions, for example resolution to Pic, movie etc....

Once I getthat in my head, then al lwil become a no brainer, turn cam and just shoot. LOL.

Today I tried to capture some rc plane in the distance and all I could see was not a thing. like any screen in bright light LOL, but I only had the brightness at medium and that was enough to see. guess a make believe view finder is me thumb on top LOL

Default bad picture quality

hey there folks...
i am seriously disheartened by this new sony backlight technology.
every P&S Sony that ive had int he past delivers crisp images that rival some slr images...
but with my new HX5V and now HX9V, i am not enjoying the picture quality at all, esp when viewing full sized pics....
Photos of people look grainy and the edges blurry...
i really hope that u guys can suggest a setting to use that produces crisper pics esp people photo's, cos i bought the P&S to use for just casual outings at dinners etc when a big SLR on the table just wont do...
so any suggestions how to combat this grainy, unsharp image problem will be greatly appreciated.

or do i just return the HX9 and get something else to carry around.

thanks a mill.
Bryce

I bought my cam not just for Point-n-shoot pictures, but of Movie, and while I did not cover ny of the manual, not manual controls the book. I have seen no issues of edging, being what you are saying? I am not taking pictures of Low level, and indoor activity. I am still observing my ways of Outdoor daylight shots.

I remember thaat a profesion Jourlalist told us, the public "All ou will ever need in a camera is 4 megapixals and 5x optical zoom, no more"

Her we are today at 16.2 megpixals and 16X optical.

1. take off Digital or zoom, in settings from SMART , and Precision, to OFF. and even though you are or not using zoom, possable that the camera is choosing just that?

2 Iauto the Green one is what I am on, they say I auto Superior is the other, and how they say it. possably a tripod is needed due to being Low level shots and how they word it.

I again am no pro, nor have yet used it for lower leveling. and stills.

My eyes will be focused on the Center and not the edges. if I were on the edges I say why did I not take more to that area (kidding) but you understand.

If you're gonna video, you ae gonna Edit, If you're gonna take a picture yoyu are gonna Edit. that is the next step of Professional photo's good luck.
