Than you for your advises.

http://www.frys.com

If you are not a fan of these shops, you then should hop on a plane, to B & H photo but remember not to visit late friday and saterday at all.

If frys falls under your not wanted list, then I am afraid you are left with very little to go on?

you can order online, and ship to your hotel and you will get it way ahead in time?

Not a problem at all. Do not be afraid to stop a bystander, and ask a question we all are super friendly, especially to a stranger.

Take your time and best of luck , enjoy L.A

Hi fishycomics- I'm thinking of upgrading the compact/hi-zoom member of my camera family- and the HX20v is a contender (don't need the Wifi of the 30v).
It's a shame that aperture and shutter priority isn't present however, I wonder, could you tell me what aperture settings are available (in manual) on the 20V at wide angle and at full zoom. Also, is auto iso available in manual mode..? Thanks.

Not a pro at these settings so I shall try my best.

The PDF file explains to basic and not clear for me. so lets see "M

Placed on "M and in menu I see no Ev -2 - +2

on main screen can set ISO Apeture frame stop ISO is auto set , when I press the Custome EV is not allowed.

If a video you want I can do over the weekend or so.

In "P" mpde I can adjust EV via menu or custom.

In Video you do not have EV in most cams but can minpulate via ISO and in custome EV, the screen show hte adjustment but when hitting record it rebounds back.

I did not try full zoom as I do not think it matters if in the mode already locked, right?

It is a total shame to have a FUlly automatic cam with liited features why it is a Point-n-shoot

thank you glad to see a post or two here?

Hi- you won't be able to adjust EV in manual(M)- as your choice of settings IS the EV adjustment in full manual mode.
I was just curious as to what aperture setting was available to you (highest and lowest "f" numbers") at wide angle and at full zoom.
Can you confirm "auto iso" is available when the dial is set to "M"...

The reason I ask this is because the HX20v doesn't have shutter priority, thus taking subjects moving swiftly might prove difficult- and I figured the only way around this would be to set the camera to "M",set the aperture wide open (lowest "f" number),dial in say 1/320th sec shutter speed and then set the iso to auto- which in effect would be the metering parameter- the iso automatically adjusting to keep exposure at a reasonable level with my shutter speed not compromised.
