Default GoPro + Sony RX100 compatible video settings ?

I am about to do a trek in Nepal. I have a GoPro Hero 4 silver, and a Sony RX100 for the trip. I use Sony vegas studio platinum 12 to do my editing.
But now I have a dilema.

What are the best settings to use on the RX100 and the gopro so I do not have too many issues when trying to marry the footage from both cameras when I return ?

I was going to use mp4 on the RX100, until I read yesterday that the AVCHD is better, but it needs some sort of conversion afterwards ?

I dont want to get home after all that shooting for a month to find I stuffed up the settings and ended up with a lower quality result.

I was not going to use 4K on the GoPro, as I will not have enough storage medai or batteries on the trail to justify 4K.

My past travels were with a Canon 600D DSLR and the footage was MP4 (from memory).

My sony rx100 is 50p or 50i as I live in Australia, so I guess it is PAL not NTSC.

Any assistance is much appreciated

Anyone shed some light on these questions, time is running out before I head off into the wilderness.
