I tried several combinations of the Olympis B300 and Raynox and Sonywith Goggle's search engine, trying to track down the above mentioned review, but never got lucky enough to find it. I don't have a lot of extra cash to spend, so I want to get one that works well, or I'm just out of luck! What to buy?:? I'll keep looking for reviews ... but it seems from the above discussionlike the Sony VCL-HGD1758 will work, but for less money, the Olympus TCON-17 works about as well. AndDON'T buy the Raynox!

This was the one drawback I had when buying this camera... I really wanted as much telephoto power as possible, but cameras I looked at with more magnification didn't have all the other goodies found with this camera. I realize it's pretty much impossible to have one camera that will do it all, but if I could just boost the telescopic power, it'd be a major step forward.

I do not use any converter lenses with my 828. The 28-200 zoom range is wide enough for most of my needs. If occasionally I need more tele power the built-in 2x digital zoom works as good as and, probably, better than most of the garden varietyOptekas, Digital Optics etc.One of the major differences between the 828 and its predecessor, the f717 is the mechanical zoom mechanism. It is way better than theprevious one, however adding the heavy weight of additional lenses may putheavy enough strain on thecams to cause excessive and unsimmetrical wear.Using an accessory lens will not break the main camera lens but it willharm its performance.
