I am considering a macro lens for my DSC F717 and am looking for some advice. I hace seen the VCL-m3358 on the Sony site but don't know much about it. What type of lens do you need to take pics of insects, flowers and other small subjects?

Thanks for the help!

You might also experiment with an SLR 50mm prime lens put up to the F717, BUT, you should have a UV filter if you're going to do it that way--as not to scratch the main elements. I've seen some great results from P & S cameras with 50mm primes on them. They can't be attached with the normal mounts so you would have to rig up an attachment of your own.

It may not be as good of quality as a macro made for the F717, but it sure is cheaper if you have a 50mm prime laying around the house.

Thanks for the information! I don't have any equipment like that for other cameras so will probably stick to something that will mount on the lens.
