Default 717 and Sigma Foveon samples compared!

Yes the BA goes head to head with the Foveon @ IR site. I must say that the mighty Sony 717 holds up just fine!

maybe so, but the foveon would surely make binky's fur look a lot smoother and cleaner.

Binki,s fur is clean but she looks happy when she looks at a picture from Sony 707. I let her look at a Foveon picture and she just did not seem as happy?:P

Sony F-717 is really a great camera and I like it but don't underestimate the Foveon X3 sensor. In fact, this 3.4 MPix Foveon is being compared and it has more resolution than the 6 Mpix Canon D-60.

Check this is out: http://www.normankoren.com/Tutorials/MTF7.html for a mathematical analysis
The number can be found in this table: http://www.normankoren.com/Tutorials...ml#Res_summary

Note: MTF numbers: for Film is 46.7, for D60 is 53.6 and for SD9 is 59.2 Line-pairs / mm at 10 % MTF.
