My Sony W1 occasionally locks up on "White Balance" -- Auto -- (no other options are shown). All other functions appear to be working.

AfterRESET, all White Balance options are available. After using the camera a few days, I discover that it is locked up again. I contacted Sony Customer service ... they say I should take it to a certified repair shop or send it in ... it's in warranty.

I've had the W1 about 2 months ... it works OK on "Auto White Balance so I don't know if it's anything I should try to get fixed.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

No, but next time it hangs up I'll try that .. that would be a lot easier than RESET!!!

Thanks.

:-)

"White balance AUTO" appears in two occasions: when using AUTO mode (green camera on the wheel) and when Flash is forced on. Doesn't?

If not, you'd better get more healthy device or continue infinite pressing RESET :-)

Hope, you'll overcome! Best wishes!

You're right; it is only "locked" up when flash is forced on.

According to the manual, this is correct operation.

Thanks for pointing this to me ... I explained this to Sony Customer Service and they directed me to take it to a shop or send it in ...

Hmmm, Sony really needs to hire some empoyees that have a clue of what they are talking about. Maybe I can get them to forward the service number to my cell phone and charge them $1 a minute
