Just a test to see how the V3 macro will work on a familiar object. There is no attempt at artistic expression here just brute force.

This was just the V3. No auxillary lenses or diopters. I propped the penny up on a bent paperclip; zoomedin macro mode and moved the mini tripod back and forth until the AF would lock. The final image is a full size crop from the 7Mp file.

Nice shot! Did you use the flash?

No, no flash, just the florescent lighting above my desk. I angled the coin to catch the highlights and create some shadows.

Well, it is not bad for an off the shelf camera (without any 'super macro' capability) not using any auxillary close-up lenses.

This is an Israeli 1 sheckel coin. It is about the same size as a penny. This was also taken with the V3.

A 5 centimes piece from France. It is about the size of a dime.
