I have just bought my first digital camera - a Sony DSC-W1, and am taking it on a skiing holiday next month. How can I make sure that the snow in my pictures looks white, not grey? Thanks for your help!

To make the snow white instead of grey, increase the exposure 1 stop above what the camera is suggesting.

Try thebeach mode in the scene modes. It has the almost the same effect as the snow mode on cameras equiped with both modes.
