First the P93A with the lower resolution LCD, now cameras made in China? Here's a pic of the bottom of a W1:

Yes that's terrible! My W1 said "made in Japan" my brother bought one about 5 months after me from an authorized Sony dealer and it said: "made in China".

Crazy!

I guess the more sophisticated, i.e. newer models like 7Mp and higher) tend to get manufactured in Japan, while the mainstream (volume) models move to China to take advantage of lower costs...

My V3 is from Japan.

Remember when 'Made in Japan' meant it was cheap and poorly made?

My V3 and L1were both made in Japan . More and more I see products made in China so it doesn't suprise me that we will see digital cameras made in China.

Mine & a friend's W1 are both made in Japan.(I had heard rumours before & checked!) The HP I had for a few days was made in China.

It makes sense they put large production volumes made in China, they are just following the market, just like computer motherboards manufactures ...etc ...

It seems that electronic enthusiest products are made in Japan, and when they fine tune the production lines, they shift them to China just before the next wave of enthusiest products hit production in Japan with a revamped production line.

But from my experience, there is a noticable change in product quality when they change production lines in digital cameras, Camcorders, & computer motherboards.(Casing not as tight fitting, cheaper parts...)

Anybody else notice this?

My DSC-M1 is from Japan. And yes, what so bad about China? Even my garmin GPSMAP60C is made from China.
