hi!

what's the difference between normal, monitor, and continuous AF?

when should i use each one of 'em?

and how do i use them?

i've read the manual but i'm still abit clueless with this feature. i'm still a budding photographer and this is my firstmore than point and shootcamera. i really want to make the most of my V1 and i want to understand every feature it has. thanks!

Normal AF only focuses when you half press the shutter button. With monitor AF the camera is always "looking" and focusing on whatever you point it at, then locks the focus when you half press the shutter button. Continuous AF is like monitor AF, but never locks the focus, it continues to focus even after you half press the shutter button.

Normal is best for still objects, when you need to save battery power and when you don't mind the camera taking a little longer to lock a focus.

Monitor AF is for general everyday use(my preference) and uses a little more battery power but locks the focus quickly.

Continuous AF is best for taking pictures of objects moving towards you or away from you as it still continues to focus up until the picture is taken. (In this mode the AF is only center)

Hope my explanation helps!

MAF should do it, but try both and see which you prefer.
