Haven't noticed lens clatter but haven't gone out of my way to check either.

The power in door I agree is poor - we just open up the whole side (where you insert the battery/mem stick) to charge her up to save the poor wee door!

bgrimm, Did you take the camera back and get a replacement because of the noises it would make while shaking?

I haven't experienced anything like what is being described. I would return the camera if when you shake it you hear something loose inside.

Mine had the same clattering sound when I shake it, other than that everything works fine.

Do we suppose to shake it? Is it broken?

Thanks,

Mine doesn't make any sound when I shake it slightly. I wouldn't shake it too hard though If it works fine, then I wouldn't worry about it. I wonder what it is, perhaps something inside is just loose that isn't a vital imager component. So it is only two people who have experiencd it on this forum? I wonder if cybershotnut also hears a sound or like me doesn't.

Since I didn't want to shake my camera too hard to test this out, on my way home from work I stopped in a Best Buy and grabbed the camera on display and shook it real hard to see if I heard any noise or clattering. I have to say that the normal spaces between the moving parts of the lens that zooms in and rotates will clatter and that is normal. If it didn't clatter you would have a problem since the lens would be rubbing as it extends. If the noise is coming from inside and is like a loose part, then that is something different and should be of concern. Seriously though, you have to shake the camera pretty hard to get it to clatter.
