i own a dsc-u30 and was working perfectly last week, and then when i went to use it the other day it will not let me take photos, it comes up that there is no battery and swithces off, but it will let me view pictures and displays full battery. have replaced batteries several times just to double check.

have replaced memnory card, formatted memory card so its not that problem

What kind of batteries are you using in the camera? It sounds like the batteries you are using do not have enough current to run the camera in photo mode. When the camera is turned to photo mode, the flash capacitor starts to charge which draws alot of power from the batteries.
