the first is a sony the second a canon.
Are those common lens reflections or dust? Is it inside?
I cleaned outside already
I seem to pick these spots with every cam in these cases.
thanks

If you only see it pointing it at the sun, then thats the problem. Dont point it at the sun.

This doesn't look like like dust. I think it is lensflare from pointing the cam to close to a bright light (the sun in this case) Dust typically shows up as a dark spot, kinda like a smudge. One way to test for dust is to take a picture of a white piece of paper that fills up the entire frame. If there is any dust you will quickly see it.

that's not dust. read this thread to see some real dust spots.

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=14420789

take pic of something, either all white or all blue (sky) and have the cam at full zoom and f5.6 - f10. thentake some test shots.

the attached picwas from my p100. my p200 doesn't have any dust, thankfully.

After reading that thread I'm nervous as heck. I just sent my W1 to Laredo last week to have the dust problem fixed. It should be coming back now any day. I've got my fingers crossed that the problem will be fixed and not made any worse.

The Sony Laredo service center is GREAT!! If you have any problems, you should ask to speak with Marco in the service dept. I cant recall his number but I can get it for you if needed.

If they do anything with your camera, they will do a good job of it.

PS. If anyone else ever sends in a Sony for repair; ONLY SEND IT TO LAREDO no matter what the online form says!! I will NEVER send another Sony anywhere else.

Well I got my camera back today from Sony Laredo. I am not too happy. They fixed the problem with dust. Well at least I don't see any yet. I'll have to check tomorrow by taking a few sky shots. What has me upset is that I get my camera back they replaced the glass, but now I have several dead pixels. They fix one problem only to return it with a new one? WTF! If the dead pixel were at least along the edges it wouldn't bother me as much, but they are in the center of the LCD!
