This is definitely not good news. The Sandisk ultra II is a much faster card than the Sony. Besides, I think Sony should disclaim such a limitation to prevent people from buying new Sandisk MS cards only to find out to their disappointment that it does not work. I will write to Sony and inquire about the limitation to see what they have to say.

Some people on the Dpreview forumhave also claimedproblems with the Sandisk pro duo and the H2.

However those with the problems seem to beusing the cheapo blue cards and not the ultra II or better cards.

I sent Sony an email asking about the MS issue w/ the H2. Let's wait and see what they say. Even the blue Sandisk MS should work but perhaps the issue with the blue card is not related to quality but speed. Maybe the H2 having a much faster engine will not accept slow cards such as the Sandisk blue.

Thanks for posting the ISO tests. I think there is certainly an improvement in picture noise between the H1 and H2 at higher ISO (400+).IMO, noise is still quite severeat ISO 800 and1000 andISO 1000should be used only if there is no other recurse (in other words, better than nothing). In any case, it is certainly good to have the option.

Here's the email reply I received from Sony regarding the H2 and Memory Sticks:

Dear Sony Style Customer,

In regard to your question, the DSC-H2 can only use Memory Stick Pro Duo memory sticks, but it does not say that it has to be a Sony memory stick. San Disk makes Sony style (no pun intended) memory sticks. For more information about the product, please call our sales team at 1-877-865-7669 opt 1 for further assistance.

Thank you for choosing Sony Style!

This to me makes more sense. I'd suggest any potential H2 buyer who has a non-Sony MS to takeit to the store and test on a H2 display model an see if it works. My guess is that it will (perhaps not the Sandisk blue but the ultra II).

Tullio, thanks for the info.
I'm very tempting to get H2, but also comparing with Pany FZ 7, still can't decide yet, both have almost same features.
What I like about H2 bcos using AA batt, but for FZ7 is smaller and lighter :?
H2 looks have better ISO performance in ISO 800.
But the main problem FZ 7 still not available in Singapore, so can't try it yet
