Sony dsc-p71 cybershot serial # 337742[/i]

I love my camera--have used it for 3 years. Still great. But when I went over 9,999 images it started numbering them back at 0001. Can I set it to number them from 10,000 and up? Also, since crossing the 9999 barrier, every time I download images to my computer (Windows XP) the images are numbered from 0001 again... and again. So I'm getting lots of duplicated image numbers on my computer--sure to cause confusion if I can't resolve it. Thanks for any solutions you can offer.[/i]

A number of Sony cameras are limited to the "9,999 and back to 00001" issue. Your easiest work around is to simply be sure todownload your newer low number shots into a new folder on your computer. I regularly have that issue since I use several Sony cameras ... each has it's own set of folders within a "master folder" which is named by month and year (e.g., "April 2006"). Additionally, the vast majority of my older shots are archived on other media elsewhere, retaining the folder methodology. Both things make the renumbering issue moot.
