Default When will the DSC-V1 hit the shelves?

Hi Martinni,

The DSC-V1 is scheduled to be released the end of May '03. So far it seems only a few pre-production models have been released for preview. The most detailed and extensive review can be found at Imaging Resources:

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/V1/V1A.HTM

I'm also looking forward to this camera. That's my 2 cents. Good luck!

David

When ever someone gets their hands on one of these Sony DSC-V1's, I would be very interested to hear how they do under low light conditions, inside, such as in a nomally lite convention hall or school stage where photos would be taken from distances beyond flash range, but less than 50' away. I am counting on that ASA 800 setting to help, but I don't know if there still might be a focus problem. :?: TIA

Default DSC-V1 review

There is a rather good review of the DSC-V1 at DC Resource (www.dcresource.com).... I think this first camera he reviews is a little subpar in key areas when compared to some other solutions. However, the only real contender is the G-3 from Canon.

... and Canon is in the process of announcing the G-5 soon!

Hope that helps some.

Thanks for the "heads up". I think I will keep my hand off my credit card until more people have had a chance to use their DSC-V1s.

A review for this cam was posted a couple of days ago at
www.dcresource.com
It was very informative and there are comparisons of pics with this camera compared to several other similar make cameras.
