eR1c,

Yes to your question, thelid does slide off. I used my camera at another track meet. The sky was variable, clouds, then bright sun, constantly changing. The Delkin was a big help with the sun out. At last weeks meet without the Delkin and a cloudless sky, it was almost impossible to use the LCD. The only problem was that I had to remove my cap as the brim kept bumping against the lid. As soon as the clouds rolled in, I simply removed the lid and put my hat back on. I don't believe there is a perfect solution to countering bright sunlight but the Delkin makes the camera much more useable.

I can not tell you anything good about lid.
For me it looks and feels non-removable.
I have applied some force to try it out and failed to find solution.
Sure I could have to try harder, but this shade is not sturdy enough, so I preferred to be on the save side.
Let's presume I do not have answer

I purchased and recieved my LCD shade,

it works absolutely wonderful.

Easy to remove is you don't want to use it (just slide and gently pull).

-Also, I can now set my LCD to "low" and save battery power for outdoor shooting...

thanks for the tips!
