@Goldy:

WinAVI can definitely not encode mpegvx, it can only decode it.

There's only one software app that can do it, and it has been released only last week: Digital Camera Media Studio from Makayama

I've been looking for software that can do this for the past two years and finally this week my quest was over. The Makayama app is the way to go. The good news for soycake: it does direct DVD to Sony Cybershot, in fact it takes any file, my downloaded divx movies worked also :-)

If you are going to link to such dubious warez link sites then warn us.

Clicked on it before I thought about it at work and a day later had to explain to my manager why I had broken the companies internet usage terms and why I should not be fired.

The resulting quality of MPEG VX by Makayama is poor. I can see compression grayness even with the best possible quality set (5) and I didn't have any sound (this may be a codec trick).

So it's nice to have at least something working with MPEG VX. Hope to see new more advanced version of Digital Camera Media Studio.
