The lens is extended and won't retract. When I turn it on, it shows the C:32:02 lens error. Turning the camera on and off doesn't help. Has anyone been able to get their S70 going when the usual fix doesn't work?

Sometimes if you press inwardsagainst end of lens when turning on it will clear it but most likely it is a zoom mechanism failure - gear, motor, etc - and requires servicing.

Thanks, Steve. I'm afraid it is a mechanical failure. At least, the motor seems to be working okay. I hear it spinning when I turn the camera on.
