Does anyone know how to put the date stamp on pictures taken on Sony T30? I set the date and time function on the menu, but it never appears on the pictures when posted online or developed.

If this is not possible via a setting on the camera, is there software that will do this?

thanks

Don't know if its possible in camera, but there are any number of programs that can do that.

Visual PhotoTime Stamp, http://www.gold-software.com/VisualP...eview20375.htm

GenaPhotoStamper, http://www.kozasoft.com/ps/

JDateStamp, http://jdatestamp.sourceforge.net/

Better Jpeg, http://www.betterjpeg.com/stamping.htm

Or you could just read the Exif info in your image editor and add the time/date manually.

Hi All,

I was just going to ask this same question of my new T30. I believe it isn't possible w/the hardware itself.

I looked at all of the different choices you included for a software option - thank you - I can't seem to find if any of them will stamp the back of the picture. Is that possible?

Also, do you like one software option over the other?

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Best regards,
Mara

Er, no, not that I can find.

The software I linked toadds the time/date etc into the actual picture itself.

I suppose you could always read the exif data for the time , add the data to a mail merge file in MS Word etc and then once the photos are printed , put them back into the printer the other way around and print out your entire list.

Though it would be faster just to view the exif information and write the time on the back of the photo..

Agreed - definitely easier to just write it on the back

Is there one software product you like over the others?

Thanks so much for the info.

Best regards,
Mara

Can't really say.

Betterjpeg , jdatestamp and Gena Photostamper are all claimed to be lossless outside the bit of the photo that is changed by the time stamp itself.

In other words as we usually work with jpegs , everytime we normally resave a jpeg more information is thrown away as jpegs are lossy.

So image saved by camera to jpeg, information thrown away to compress photo, sharpen - save, information thrown way, add time stamp later- save, even more information is thrown away. Thats why its best to make all changes at the same time so there is only one save, and always keep a copy of the original incase you want to work on it again later.

These programs however claim to only affect the part of the image carrying the stamp, the other parts are not changed by a save.

As for myself, if I need to Iadd a custom frame in Photoshop and add my signature to that , so I don't normally use any of the above programs.

For general showing on the web I would not even bother as anyone with any interest can always read the exif and find out all the settings and times etc.
