Well, not quite a matter of taste for I too agree that a hood has its benefits. However, I don't think the SA58H works that well. The hood is intrusive and awkward being more of a problem than a solution. But, if one reallywants a hood, then I agree that the SA58H is thebest optionunless one uses the adapter and hood that come with the camera.

You should have to open new thread on software forum in order to get the most.

I use Adobe CS2 and Irfanview (freeware).
My personal preference is to use software as little as possible. Photo suppose to come off from camera the way you want it to be.

The Sony software is pointless garbage.

Hundreds of $$s to spend ? Photoshop CS2

For much much less try Photoshop Elements4, even PS3 if on a budget, or Paintshop Pro..

Or try freeware like,

The Gimp, Irfanview, Picasa, Faststone, Photofiltre

I'm not a big fan of PP but w/ digital photography one cannot go without. Although I have PSE4, I find it a bit convoluted. I don't want to spend hours and hours trying to figure out how to improve my pictures. If they are not decent to begin with, I don't bother. I like Picasa (free software from Google) and NeatImage and although Picasa islimited in many respects, between the two I manage to fix most problems with the images that come right out of my cameras.

I don't think I understand the question? Are you talking about filters? The DH1758 does not have a front thread so no filters can be added to it (unless you improvise).

I think they've messed up the description of the lens. VCL-DH1758 is already a tele converter (1.7x).The Tokina is a 3.0x tele that they claim is for the Sony H1 camera. That's why I was confused by your initial question. My guess is thatthis lens ispure garbage. If you are looking for a tele converter for your H5, I'd get the DH1758 for it's an awesome lens, which BTW, works very well with other cameras such as the FZ20 and S2/S3. According to the H1 White Paper, anything beyond 1.7x in front of theH1 lens will not produce good results.Magnifying your images 3.0x may sound exiting but I really don't believe you'd be happy with the results.
