Hello: I stumbled across this site today and it looks like a good one!

I have a Sony Cybershot DCS-P10 which is acting up in this way: When I plug it into electricity, it will come on and I can download pictures. Sometimes, it goes off by itself and is dead for a while. Neither one of my batteries work. Sometimes, I plug it into the computer and the electricity to download and it will not turn on at all.

I called Sony and they want $180 flat rate to fix and return. Should I send it to them or go buy a new battery?

Any suggestions? It's a 2003 model and we love it. We paid $500+ in 2003 and I hate to get rid of it. What would you do?

Thanks!

Kim

I would not invest $180 in 3 years old broken camera.
But if you hate the idea of getting rid of it, go ahead. Since you have no warranty, try to find less expansive non SONY repair shop

It would be more economical if you just bought a used working P10 on ebay.

Thank you for your replies. Maybe I should chuck this one and go with a refurbished one or upgrade.
