I had a lot of fun this time. I didn't get as sick looking through the lens. I held the camera up to the other eye and had them both open and it worked. It took some getting use to, but I did it :D. Would love your feedback.

...then the ref steps in the way. You can see the ball up top. DID I NOT FINALLY HAVE "THE SHOT"....uuuggghhhh....

Nice isolation with the pictures and nice and sharp. People getting in the way of taking pictures at soccer...haha...tell me about it. :D

Very nice series. As Steven mentioned, great isolation, nice and sharpand good timing. Very well done.

Welcome to one of the great frustrations of sports shooting - the collection of "referee" picutures.

As a long-time soccer referee, I never got mad about people saying I blocked their photo shots, but it did kind of hurt when they accused me of being wide enough to block the sun.

Nice set of shots.

Thanks everyone. I was so excited about this set of pictures, I actually got a lot of good ones. Last weekend we had another tournament, but it was raining the whole time. I saw a guy out there with all his rain gear taking pictures, but I have to say...I'm not ready to go there yet.:-) Thanks again for your feedback.

Great shots, and I'm glad you didn't get sick.

Were you able to squeeze the cost of PS Elements out of the grocery budget?

futbol mom Jan 31, 2007 11:10 PM

...No:lol:. I haven't reallylooked into doing that yet. I have been playing around with the software that came with the camera. I'm not ruling it out though! Another tournament this weekend...can hardly wait!

That first one really says eyeball. lol The third is really pixelated or is it just me?

Great shots.

I just got new compression software, so I could download the pictures to the forum...I don't really know how to use it yet. At least I hope that is the reason.:?

The images are all 2336 x 3504, but IMG_0060-d.JPGis only 150K while the rest are over 200K. Hence, the pixelation.

FB Mom: Maybe next time, you could use the software to reduce the resolution on the images you upload, instead of compressing them. Don't change the resolution in the camera; just tell the software to make a smaller copy for e-mail.

Thanks TCav...I'll have my husband take a look at it with me so we can figure that out.:-)

TCav Feb 5, 2007 8:52 PM

Don't forget to do a "Save As..." after you reduce the image. Otherwise you'll overwrite the original.

I like the third one a lot. There is something exciting about the moment right before contact in a drop-kick. You also did a great job with the subject isolation and DOF.
