OK, after a week of raid delays, I finally got to shoot some spring sports. Unfortunately for me, the umpire was a stickler for the rule book and because thiss field doesn't have a designated press area he wouldn't let me shoot from the field - so had to shoot from the dugout - which means a whole collection of photos with a 1st or 3rd base coach in the way :G
Anyway, not much action in this game but still good to get outside and shoot. C&C always welcome. She definitely has intensity... ![]() Failed bunt attempt, fielded by the pitcher for the easy put-out... ![]() See if you can guess which way the sun was coming from (man I could have used some cloud cover :G) ![]() Katie, the shortstop, doing her job.. ![]() As is the second baseman... ![]() Pitcher covering first - apparently more comfortable throwing than catching... ![]() Thrown out stealing - not even close: ![]() This one was closer, but still OUT! ![]() |

Hi John,
Glad you are shooting in the good outdoors again and looks like you got some good weather. Shame the you could not get the coaches out of the way. Only thing and you have been a bad boy here and they are not quite straight LOL :blah:!! Looking forward to seeing more shots from the season. Mark |

By the way Mark, I'm finally forcing myself to convert to back-button focusing (Cfn-4) I figured baseball/softball was a good time to start this because there are a lot of situations where I can pre-focus in these sports. It's going to take a few games to get used to, but I figured it was time to make the switch (gotta get ready for that mk-III ![]() |

It's nice to see spring has sprung for you and you can move outdoors for some shutter fun! Your shots are again bang-on for timing, they show excellent DOF and exposure is spot on. There is however a slight 'halo' effect due to just a slight over adjustment to contrast/sharpening donein your NoiseWare. I see the halo on the edge of their black sleeves and socks.

I'm sure the baseball shots will be much more interesting and I might be nice to you with the next comment when you do post them LOL :blah:
Last week I made the change to CF4 thumb focus and it seems to work very well. Before that I was on CF4 option 2 which allowed me to hold the focus by pressing the button but I'm finding option 3 to work very well apart from when I picked my camera up yesterday and thought the lens had messed up as it was not focusing on the half depress of the shutter...... OOPs that will teach me to use my brain. |
