It really is a good set of shots, some real good timing. I would be interested in knowing a little more about the shots, type of camera, lens, ISO, shutter speed etc.
If your interested check out some of my shots at: http://www.geocities.com/k1par/2004ll.html Keep shooting your doing good! |

they were taken with a d100 and a nikon 80-200 f/2.8
most of them were around 320iso, 1250th or 1600th at about f/4 |

Given your shutter speeds and ISO, I'm not sure why they came out so poor. You did a good job of capturing the action, but you fell down somewhere else. I used the 80-200 f/2.8 exclusively for baseball this year, and got clean crisp shots. Are you shooting wide shots and cropping heavy in post process? Do they look like that out of the camera? What was your post processing work flow?
They look a tad bit over exposed, and shot at a higher ISO than 320. I would not be afraid to open that lens up to 2.8. In broad daylight, I shot at ISO 200, Aperture priority, f/2.8, and it netted me crisp clear shots and shutter speeds of 1/4000 sec were common. I might post a shot in a few min. |

just about every shot was shot at 200mm, croping was kinda minor, with the 1.5x factor which gives 300mm, post prosesing was crop, levels, and maybe a little saturation
they look fine on my moniter, i calibrated it with adobe gama, but that was a few years ago... could it be that i shot them in jpg normal, insted of fine? |

Your exif data is missing, so it's hard to put a finger on anything. Are you shooting in Program Mode, or Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority or manual? I don't really know what is happening here. I've never had that kind of result. The color of your photos is off, and without a properly calibrated monitor, it's hard to get the colors right. The experts say your monitor should be calibrated twice a month with a calibration instrument. Monitors tend to slip out of calibration over time. I think I miss read your shutter speeds. It looks like you were shooting between 1/250 and 1/600 sec shutter speed. That is too slow for baseball. On sunny days, I typically saw 1/4000 sec shutter speeds at ISO 200. How long have you had your D100? |
