If that is an actual 600 X 800 (800 X 533) cropped from a much larger image both the lens and focus are excellent. If you blow it up a little there are a lot of JPG artifacts – I would guess you just saved at a low quality for posting. Nice shot.
Dangerous work. My next door neighbor's dad spent a good deal of time in the hospital from those, but he just couldn't quit. I defogged it and hit auto-levels. It is fine the way you posted it, but I like it a little better defogged. Not sure auto-levels got the white right, but switching back and forth between the defogged and defogged plus auto-levels the boat seems to stand out better. |

It sure does!
I'm a bit lazy on the "tweaking" of most of my images but I'll investigate defog and see what I can do with the levels. I take all my photos in RAW mode. This one was taken with my EOS1D Mk2 and 100-400 L Lens! Cheers, Carl. |

You don't usually have to do much Photoshop tweaking on a raw shot from a top notch camera like that. You can probably get it just about where you want it during the raw conversion. Your original probably portrays the feel of being there better than the tweaked up version.
Shots from my little carry everywhere camera with no lens hood almost all require defogging. And since I shoot with minimum sharpening and contrast they need some other work as well to look good. Even my two prosumer cameras with lens hoods need work for almost every shot. I should probably upgrade but am too lazy to carry the equipment around. |

I'll take a look at the RAW mode one and see if I can make it better!
Just a side note, here's a video of one of the other race boats, taking it over backwards! www.wiked.net/files/gr.wmv Sorry if it's off topic! |
