I only make these comments because of the many great shots you have posted - I think this one isn't up to your standard. In part, the faces are expressionless; either the shotputter doesn't grimace or grunt or it came a fraction of a second earlier. The background is distracting, but I imagine you are somewhat restricted in where you can stand.

The lighting conditions remind me of some of your indoor shots - you just can't seem to get a break with decent light for track and field.

Why f16?

As mentioned, the spectators in this add nothing to the shot and the school, cars and wires are way too much of a distraction. With a short lens, it's probably unlikely you could blur the background enough anyway, which might limit you to a front shot or an angle shot from the same side as the spectators. Man, I hate the lousy backgrounds at H.S. sports :angry:
