All three are great, but I really like #2 because you caught the intensity of expression on both players' faces.

I agree - # 2 is a great shot.
#1 is tough - the ebony skin is exposed well but the white skin is blown #3 is just too tight on the top of the frame. Good timing, sharpness and exposure but as you said the shoes aren't that important. Great job! |

Great points John! I usuallymeter off of the black players moreso than the white ones becauseI tend to overdarken them. ShouldI be metering for thewhite skin instead? My goal formy next shoot is to make sure the complete ball is in all of my shots. Thanks for looking.

Now, if you were shooting for the team in white and he was a prominant player and the team was mostly black then I WOULD pay more attention to getting his skin tones correct. It's just another compromise you have to make - you can't get ALL the skin tones right, so you have to decide what is most important to you. Unfortunately I don't have a better answer. |

I really like the expression in your second photo. The defense eyes so clearly on the ball, and the shooter looking direct to the basket.
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"I've only shot a bit of sports, but have the same dilema with correct exposure for skin tones. My answer has been to switch it up and shoot a bit of each. And hope for a the right variety. style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Good work. |

excellent shots! that gym must have some nice lighting, nice and sharp and you are getting a 500 shutter at 2000-2500 iso.
