A few photos from the West Cork Rally, I was using my 50mm F1.8 and 70-200 f2.8, the 50 for the side shots on the jump, and the rest with the 70-200. And I tried a new way of presenting the photos rather than a watermark across them, they dont sell anyway no point in runing them.

I like the jump shots and boy is that Subaru's suspension getting crushed on the landing!!! The rear view of the red Escort mkII is very cool as it's a different angle and shows the height off well.
How do you advertise to try to sell your work? |

The subaru had a hard landing, but it didn't jump the highest or longest so there were harder landings. Two years ago a pug 106 broke the engine landing after that jump, sump guard came through the sump I think.
I had an e-shop integrated into my gallery, the gallery gets a few hundred views a day, but I didnt get many orders (about 3). I also had a printer at a few autocross and autograss events and didn't sell many. I post the photos on local rally forums too. I'm now supplying photos to a car mag, for there rally section and I get a 1/4 page add in the article, but still no good with selling photo or getting enquires. I don't really mind, would be nice if the hobby could help out with buying new equipment. |

Well I'm sure that it's not the quality of the work that's the problem. When I shoot a car event I try to get around the paddock and speak briefly to each driver. I usually do this at lunch time as I'm normally covering hill climbs and they have an hours break so this in conjunction with the end of the event I get enough a time. There are usually about 120 drivers so expect to get enough orders to cover my expenses and put some back towards new kit. People buy from people so put some time into that.
style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"I was interested that even with on site printing that you didn't get many sales so the other possibility is that the guys at the rallies are not into having photos of their cars which might be a problem. I do OK at club events as people are passionate about their cars and not just the racing which helps. I think you would find that if you have junior classes as parents like to get photos of their children doing things. |
