Default Good cameras for sports/action photos?

I'd like to buy a new camera. My price range is anywhere from $300 to $1000. My main focus for the camera is to use it to photograph horses. With the different light ranges, quick movements horses are constantly making, and distance ranges lots of cameras don't photograph them well. Are there any camera brands and or specific models particularly good for this type of photography? Thanks soo much!

There are too many to list. Every brand makes a good camera.

Point & Shoot
Bridge camera

$1000 will be enough for a great bridge camera. Perhaps a good mirror less. But the you'll have to buy a good zoom lens to go with it. As you'll see it's the lenses that get expensive.

As Lomitamike says, it's the lenses that get expensive, but it's also the lenses that really matter. I haven't compared ISO performance of cameras lately, but I'd say spend a bit more, get an entry level SLR with something like a Sigma 70-200 f2.8. If you can get the latter used you may be able to stay within your budget. New ones however are ~$1200.

f2.8 may not be necessary if you are only shooting outdoors but almost a must if indoors.
