I am going to get this. Thanks for all of the help. I am using pse 7 now. I changed the width to 300 and height went to 200 but file size still says 3.07 mb. Do I just keep going lower to get it down to 253.9kb or am I doing something wrong.

You have to save it first (with a different name, with the Save As... command. Otherwise, you'll lose the original.) Then check the file size of the new file.

If you double-click on it, does a smaller image open?

I have PSE5, a few versions older than your's, but to save a file I do this.
Click File, then Save As, then enter your new file name in the File Name box and make sure JPEG is selected in the Format box. A new window will pop up and that where you lessen the image quality to get the file size to the allowed 253KB. Laurie PS: Also, wou said you had resized the file to 300 x 200. That's going to be too little to view on the forum. A width of 1000 is a good size, easy to see, anything bigger requires the viewer to scroll. Last edited by laurel99; Sep 18, 2010 at 10:11 AM. |

If it's 300x200, close the program, close the window of the folder the image is stored in, open that folder again, right click on the new, smaller image, and what's the file size?

When you resized the image, did you resize it to 300x200 PIXELS? ... or was it inches or centimeters?
(I'm having trouble understanding how a 300x200 pixel image could possibly take up 3MB.)

Sorry I think I am doing it in inches. PSE gives me options of inches, cm, mm, points, picas, and columnes under document size, witch should I choose. In document size it talks about width, height and resolution. Thanks for your Patience with me!
