John,
They're all a bit soft, but more importantly it looks like you couldn't decide what your subject was in them. In each shot you've got 2 runners with equal positioning in the frame - and almost equal focus. That can be effective in some cases but here I think it's distracting - my eye keeps going back and forth between the two athletes to determine who is in better focus. Also, for hurdles - try positioning yourself either directly in front of a hurdle (if you can) or directly to the side) I don't think angles work as well for hurdle shots. If you don't care about a particular athlete - then choose the one with the best shot - is someone leading the pack and thus no one between him/her and your position? If not, can you get a shot of the athlete in the closest lane - and thus again, no other athlete in the way. Does that make sense? |

hi johng,
yes it does, but i only got about maybe 20 shots, and i really didn't get to setup. i just sat down as close to the rail as i could to get some shots, i did get the guy in the lead, and he was leaping over one of those jumps, but it was blurry, if i would have known then what i have learend from you and mark, i believe i would have had a nice shot! here it is just to give you an idea, and as i said before i just had it set in sport mode. now i think i would have taken a few to practice, and then worked on the slow shutter speed and gotten some motion blur. and also some in aperture mode to crisp ones. i really don't use sport mode anymore. i just wish the e-500 had the settings like the e-1, basic settings and none of the fancy stuff so i could learn a little faster with out all theextra settings! |
