All these shots were taken with the Sigma 50-500 at 500mm.

great shots mealers!
i love how the side/backlighting makes the wave "glow"! tough on the white water, but you don't have any other lighting choice... anyway, great action in these, and great job with exposure and sharpness ![]() Vito |

Thanks for the comment vito
![]() Question though.... Do you think they are sharp?? Have a look at the exif for the first shot, what would you change if anything? No just a little bit of levels, contrast and USM.
The loss of sharpness always happens on face and hands for some reason. These are about the sharpest i've taken but i guess thats down to light. On cloudy days the quality is poor. |

Been trying to find a pic similar and came up with this. The day was kind of hazey and had no direct sunlight but the light there was seemed well balanced.
This was with the D2H 50-500 500mm 1/800th f6.3 iso200 metering mode-multipattern wb-auto sharpening-auto no post editing just converted toJPEG from NEF RAW and shrunk. Does seem sharper to me and with USM can get it better. I wonder what it comes down to camera/settings/light/lens batch? If you ever head up to North Devon we shouldhook upfor a shoot. Raff |

Although the 300d has done me proud and boosted me into the dslr world i cant but help to look at other cameras like the 20d and the D2H and see the benefits of those cameras towards sports. I gotta lotta saving and grovelling to the missis but the 20d is my next investment. Gonna shoot some Motox this weekend. A friend from work races and is going to have a word with the organisers to try and get me into the best spots. ![]() I've got a good friend who lives at Croyde and he keep telling me to come up and try Lynemouth. He says it needs big SW winds to work so with winter coming it sounds like a good plan. If i head up your way l'll give you a shout. Thanks again Mike |
