Great capture but lacks DOF and the trees look to be more in focus than the player. This shot looks like it was F10 or higher and that it was not on spot focus.

Just a guess as there is no exif information.

I'm guessing you meant that the picture has too much DOF rather than a lack of it. Or do you really think the background needs to be sharper?

To me, the fous issue you brought up is the real issue.

Timing is perfect, but the mis-focus hurts the shot more than the background does.
