Need help

Can anyone give me some advice orsuggestions on what I should do to get sharper images of my daughter playing basketball...I have a rebel XT , and shoot with a 85mm F/1.8 and here are my settings using a light meter...

ISO 1600

Shutter 250

Aperture 1.8

AF AI Servo, and have move around on all 3 settings with no improvement...

WB- Custom and AWB , neither seems to improve clearness

No Flash,,, the lighting is pretty good in this gym..plus I want to learn without flash at first.

No Tripod- but I have used a bipod with not much improvement

Still are getting noise and some blurr what am I doing wrong?? I'm shooting basketball pic's @ about 15-25' on the Average....please help what else could I be doing or not doing to cause blur pic's.... and I am holding very still. Or at least I think I am......

I'm with Terry, please post some examples.

I would say that 250 is very slow for sports which is probably the biggest problem and with those settings itsoundslike a very badly lit hall.

yea, without seeing I would say offhand that the shutter speed is too slow and the shallow DOF with the f1.8 aperature setting doesnt help any, but need to see some examples to make a better determination

At the top of a jump, the body is relatively still. So, if you time the exposure right, you can get some clear shots even at that speed.

It's a tough way to go, though. I find basketball to be a very challenging subject.
