Was just wondering if anyone else ever shoots with both eyes open or if it was just me? I only just realised that some people shoot using their left eye (I had always assumed that the way cameras were that all people shot with their right) which would not allow them to use this technique. If you do shoot with both eyes open, when do you do it and how have you got on?

Personally I only use it when I am focusing on a specific player and want to get them receiving a ball for example so look at the whole play with my left eye and keep them centered in the camera with my right.

Looking forward to hearing.

I happen to shoot with my left eye. Even though I am right-handed, I'm left eye dominate. I keep right eye open, though, & "don't see" the back of the camera. I do see peripherally around the camera & this helps in tracking. If I try using my right eye, I have to close the left as I can barely see what's framed in the lens.

I need to do it more often. Unfortunately I'm also left eye dominant when it comes to focusing. And since I shoot primarily in portrait orientation that means my right eye would be staring at the back of the camera body. I need to start training my right eye so I can use the periferal vision of my left.

I am left hand dominant and learned to be a rightie in the right hand world.

I can do most anything with both hands.

I am right eye dominant by default. I cannot see out of my left eye due to a congenital condition, "amblyopia" (aka. lazy eye). I was born cross eyed and had cosmetic surgery when I was twelve. It did nothing to correct or improve my vision.

The left eye is very light sensitive so I do have it closed quite a bit and especially when I am shooting.

Makes it tough to shoot for me but knowing the game and anticipation makes up for it quite a bit.

I am left handed and left eye dominent but look through the camera with my right eye. Yes I keep both eyes open when shooting, it comes in handy keeping track of foul balls coming at you in baseball. Seriously, I can actually process the image in the camera with my right eye keeping what I want centered while watching the action develop with my left eye. I learned to do that a long time ago.

I have lazy eye also but both eyes work well, usually my right eye is on the viewfinder. When I need to keep track of stuff I may leave the left open.

Right-handed,aim/shoot with left eye (which is strange, because I hunt and aim/shoot with my right eye) Can't stand having both eyes open, brain does not compute! ;) I usually watch the play develop by "peaking" over the top of the view finder, then quickly find the subject that I'm shooting when the play develops.
