Took these at my son's matches yesterday - lousy drizzly day and these were taken from up in the stands with the 9500, from quite a distance.

Nice series Steve.

Hi Steve - I like these and makes me think I should try to get to a Rugby game. I would suggest going for a wider aperture though. You have set aperture priority at f.6.4 which is bringing your shutter speed very low reducing the change of a good shot. I notice inshot No2it is as low as 1/60th so you have done very well to get the shot you did especially as you are atmax zoom which is the equivalent to 300mm in 35mm. Try setting between f2.8 and f4 which will allow a faster shutter speed; you will also get a reduced dept of field making your subjects stand out more from the.

Looking forward to seeing the next game.

Good work,

Mark.

Hey Mark, thanks for the very sound observation & advice - will certainly heed it this coming weekend and hopefully postsome improved results! (feeling quite dumb now that you've pointed out the obvious fault:cool:)

LOL..... I know what you mean..... I have manged to take some shots before in bright daylight at ISO 3200 because I have not checked my settings. I was not a happy person, but learnt my lesson and reset to standard settings at the end of a shoot and check everything before starting again.
