Yep that's right, I've never had a chance to shoot basketball before and I'm fortunate that it was our local team who are currently number four in the UK so not a bad place to start!!!

We were taking our church youth group to the game and so I was really cheeky and got in touch with the teams photographer to see if I could get court side and she was very kind and I managed to have the 2nd and 4th quarter there.... nice!

I found that if I was actually on the floor I kept getting blocked by the ref and also the coaches so moved up a couple of steps but still a reasonable angle. I didn't want to move around too much as I was just please to be there shooting.

Please let me know what you think as I have a lot to learn.

Hi Mark, nice to see you got to Plymouth at last!

They are a nice bunch of people there and are usually pretty helpfull.

#5 is my favourite too.

Alas you have made a big mistake, Plymouth ar second in the BBL and have been quite a while :-)

The lady there usually shots RAW but the lighting there is pretty good anyway!

It will be next season when I return to Plymouth!

Nice work.

Not bad at all, I will differ for JohnG just a little. I Like #1 and #5 the best. Overall a good job. I feel that basketball is one of the hardest sports to photograph well mainly due to the various degrees (or lack thereof) of lighting. Keep it up!

Great first time out Mark! Man,I remember my first. LOL Between #1 and #5 Id have to pick #1. Likethe great Phoenix, he rises above the crowd-great capture.

Having fought the refs all year long I feel your pain, LOL. I realize you were in a unique situation and didnt want to take advantage of the liberties given to you.

Nice Job! I agree I like to see more of the faces as John said, but hey I think you really captured some great action! I went to a few basketball games this season and have to agree that basketball is tricky but you seem to make it look easy in your photos. As always you have some great crisp shots.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the late reply!! I had a great time and I know that faces are key, but liked the sequence of the dunk. I have been invited back to shoot again if I have the time so that's cool.

1 and 5 are also my faves, I like the eyes in 5.

Frisky, I was adamant that they were 2nd in the league however someone else who claims to know more about basketball than me said they were definitely 4th so wasn't going to disagree..... I should have though.

Great Shots !! Did you do any Post Processing at all or straight from the camera? I agree with John, #6 has a little more POP than 5, even with a little shadowing.

You really captured some great action though !!
