My friend has the AF 70-200/2.8 EX APO HSM IF F/CANON (77MM)
and loves it alot. I noticed there may have been an upgrade to this lens because there is a new "DG" refrence in the latest lens AF 70-200/2.8 EX DG APO HSM IF F/CANON EOS (77MM) and alittle more money because of the upgrade. Can someone here explain the difference between the two and if the latest one is a really good lense for shooting sports? Another thing, i have felt the sigma bigma 50-500mm and was wondering if there is a significant lighter load with the sigma 70-200mm when holding it? Thanks. John

Basic Sigma EX comparison:
70-200 F2.8 - 1270g - Diameter 86.2mm X Length 184mm
50-500 F4/6.3 - 1840g - Diameter 95mm X Length 218.5mm

The 70-200 is 570g lighter and 34.5mm shorter thatn the bigma.
That is about 1.25 pounds lighter, and 1.38 inches shorter.

The DG is for the new Digitally Optimized versions, there is an new DG Bigma too.
