I like the concept of the photos. But the subject and the snow are underexposed. This is a problem in snow where the camera will meter about 2/3 to 1 full stop below to try and turn the snow to a neutral grey. If you want to keep from blowing the sky out I would suggest using a flash. If you don't care about the sky then use EC to get the skiers exposed correctly.

John is correct.
If a good external flash is not available the other option is to use some tools available in photo shop. I use the cs3 program and by using the "edit"-fill-overlay-white-17 to 45% strength, you can bring the whites up to look like this and lighten the faces as well. Cheers! |

The edited ones look great. Maybe the setting used are th right way to take the shot and do that edit afterwards so the sky and so on arent overexposed.
