i had just got home from seaworld and the owner of the local spanish paper called me to come take some pics for him. which was pretty cool. these are night shots so i used iso 1600. which as you can see have alot of noise, i am on a computer that doesn't have neat image installed. so i just cropped these.

John, considering the horrible conditions and low shutter speeds you were working at you have done a really good job and the last one works really well..... you sure are learning!!!!

The first shot is the only one that doesn't cut the mustard - the others are all good. The last one is VERY good.
Now excuse my ignorance of the rules - is the line considered 'in' or 'out' (last picture)? |

Terrific shots, particularly the last one.
And John, in answer to your question, soccer is one of the few sports in which the position of the player is irrelevant in determining boundary questions. To be "into touch" or "out of bounds," the entire ball must cross the touch line, or side line. Thus, the player could actually be completely over the line and the ball still be in play as long as the ball doesn't cross. |

Yea, Ill echo the others...nice job under poor conditions. Toss that first one out and the rest are keepers, esp the timing on the last shot. Well done!

I never shoot RAW for sports only important portraits/weddings where I can't afford to get anything wrong and RAW can pull it back.
There might be an argument for trying RAW in horrible conditions as you were in and try slightly under exposing to get a faster shutter speed but I'm not 100% convinced. |
