The only time I use RAW for sports is if I have badly cycling lights in a gym and white balance is totally off - which is to say I've done it 3 times in the last 2 years. Otherwise RAW adds too much time to my workflow, takes up too much space and slows down my buffer too much for very little gain.

here is my question, i was talking with the guy who took our pictures at discovery cove, and he was saying that the jpgs deteriorate(sp) everytime you open them, so he said if i want to sell pictures, take them in raw. so my question is how much do they deteriorate? and if so is it really that much, to make a difference? mark i have seen you website and i know you sell alot of your work! do you find this to be a problem? i just thought i would ask, because i have never heard that ever.
thank you, john |

Hmmmm sounds like you were talking to someone who knows very little!! There is nothing that happens when you open one, however each time you edit a photo in jpg there can be a light degradation in quality however I've not had an issue at all with this as I only do very limited editing, once to get it sorted for web reproduction and then when it is sold. I do keep originals just in case I have to do something large and I was shooting at high ISO in which case I want the best possible result.

it matters where the ball is when it hits the ground, im pretty sure. so assuming that the ball never touched the ground outside the line, it wouldnt matter where the player is and is counted as in
