thanks for the info.
I was thinking about getting the canon 70-200 f2.8usm.
But the sigma seems to do very well, and i dont think its as
heavy either. and its cheaper. I may be changing my mind to the sigma. Im getting the rebel and want a good lens for sports
action shots, indoor and out.
you can check out one of my sites and see what sort i take.
tell me if that lens would do well for me.

so did you take these down on the floor?
do you get a pass to get so close or just using the lens got you those?

sigma 70/200 is a very good lense...

but the body is perhaps not so strong as the canon, but the price is not the same too!!!

if you are a pro and you use it every day i think canon is stronger but if you are like me you make picture 1 or 2 time a week i think sigma is enought.....

i think af is quite same

for the basketball picture i took it down the floor yes....

you know in france it is easy to make picture , this team is for the moment the best in france but that's not NBA!!!!
and i supply picture to the team....so it is easy for me to take pictures...

thank you see you

The camera you use , is that the new canon that shoots 8-9fps?
Did you set it on the burst mode and take the action shots, or just shoot one at a time?

I have the E100rs right now, have had it for 2 years.
It shoots 15fps, but only 1.5pix. I usually shoot it at 7fps. burst mode.

Im looking to upgrade soon to a better camera, most of my photos are sports action shots. That camera sounds great.
Im looking at the rebel right now, its more my price range.
but i would love to have the 1D ! a little out of my range.
WOW that 1D is fast though!

IMHO Most shooters of sports don't use "Burst mode" its a waste of memmory on your card. Practice catching the moment a frame at a time. Plus flashes will not keep up with rapid firing, and if you do have an external battery sorce for your flash that will fire enough power and fast refresh time you can burn up the Flash.

True , i figured you didnt, just asking.
My camera isnt fast enough to just click each time real fast.
To get more than one in a row in action i need to use it.
I like to in the outside sports, i get some great action that way.
But i like seeing the action in sequence shots of kids sports, we use it to see how they swing and pitch, to help if they are doing it wrong at each stage. But my camera is low pix, so i can take as many as i want. And taking little kids that move a lot .lol
There is a sequence i took one time of a high school baseball catcher getting a throw at home with a guy coming in, you can see in the sequence he totally missed catching the ball , but one of the end photos where he is tagging the other guy looks like he got him out. lol here is the link

i like this one too its a girl sliding

i take around 400 at least in a game. and your right they do pile up quickly.
But inside the lighting is bad so i dont usually do it then.

I am very much an amateur (as you can see by my camera list--nothing compared to most of you), but I like the slower burst mode on my FZ-10 for sports. Sometimes you catch something good in the sequence. I never get seats close enough for the flash to work anyway so that isn't an issue for me.

By the way, great shot (tres bien)! Wish I could get down on the floor for some of the games around here...
