Are printed manuals available for Sony SLT-A33 and similar cameras?

They are supplied by the manufacturer (Sony) with all dslr (and slt) cameras. Pentax does so as well.

Thank you. I was afraid I might have to download on the internet.

I am wondering if the translucent mirror in the Sony SLT-A55 would reduce the brightness of the view finder.

Unlikely - it is supposed to adjust itself automatically to the ambient light levels, but you8 can also adjust it manually through the menus. I suggest you download a copy of the manual from Sony - it should answer most of your questions. You can also look at Steve's recently posted review of the similar a33 - the two cameras share the same manual.
