I wonder if this is using the Olympus XZ-1 lens... looks very similar...
If so,might be worth checking each individual camera on its own merit when purchasing- as some XZ-1 lenses had edge softness issues...

I'd be surprised if a Pentax lens would be an Olympus design.

I do agree with you that every individual camera and / or lens should be checked...via third part performance assessments (magazine/internet, etc.) , or personal tests....before purchase.

I recently bought a new Sigma lens....but before I bought/paid for it....I put it on my camera body...shot some outside photo's.....commercial signs, wild birds, etc...and carefully scrutinized the result on my monitor.

BTW, the Sigma lens passed.

You're right, Simon.

I haven't read this review completely...so I don't know if there's any more info about this collaboration between Pentax and Olympus.

Companies do have to look at collaborative efforts....I understand that even giants such as GM and Ford are collaboratively developing new Front wheel drive transaxles and rear wheel drive transmissions for both GM and Ford vehicles of the future.

It seems the lens is all that's shared....
As for collaborative efforts between companies... great... provided it's the good bits that go around...!!
