I notice there are 12 positions on the mode dial... yet only 11 are listed...?
How did the AF feel in use overall- and was the continuous AF performance tested (viewfinder)- as I feel it's been a weak area of former Pentax models...

SIMON, here's the response from our reviewer in regard to your questions:

"I found the continuous AF on the K-50 did a good job at tracking subjects I shot at a soccer game in daylight. Most of my shots looked sharp, though not all. The continuous AF is pretty quick to adjust while zooming, and in most cases produced a sharp shot. Where it could not keep up, however, was when I approached a subject at close distance. In such cases, which were the same whether I was shooting in low- or high-speed burst, I had to stop and refocus to get a sharp shot."

Thanks Billy- and thanks to the reviewer...
So,I'm guessing if the subject approaches at close distance towards the shooter, continuous AF might be problematic if the subjects moving swiftly... though this type of scenario seems to me to be the most difficult for many a camera... sadly..!
