I take many photos in school multi use rooms. Can get good photos using film camera with flash, but not with digital. Is there a way to compare flashes on cameras so i can be sure the next digicam I buy has a flash with enough power for me? This is for middle schoolers to use also, so needs to be easy to use; external devices won't do. THanks.

You can read the reviews on this site, and get an ideo of the "guide number", which will tell you roughly how far the flash will go.
Also, the reviews may tell you how many feet (or meters) the flash is good for. There should be no difference between using flash for digital or film. Usually the flash built in to cameras is not very strong. If you want really good flash, you have to buy an external one that fits onto a hot shoe. Obvously middle schoolers won't want to deal with an external flash. -- Terry |
