I recently bought a Nikon D50, and had it for just 3 months before the flash died. I reckon I had taken no more than 1000 shots with the flash before it decided to give up the ghost.
The nice people at Jessops offered to send it to Nikon for repair, although after a small amount of pursuasion, they offered me a brand new one! I was very happy with the offer of replacement, although it got me thinking about the fact that it could fail again - I sincerely hope not! Does anyone know how long an on-board flash should last for? I guess mine was just a duff camera......? Looking forward to hearing if anyone has had similar probs. Chris |

If you want a definite answer, you should ask this in the Nikon section. I imagine the flash would last quite a while, you must have had a defective. You mention 1000 shots, were they all with your flash on? I've got a D50, but I bought a SB600 External Flash so the built-in sees no action anymore.
